Protests against Golaghat DC continue, demand grows for her suspension

Golaghat (Dhekial) July 4: Protests continue in Golaghat over tainted Superintendent of Excise Jiban Chandra Phukan’s allegation against the Deputy Commissioner.

On Monday, the activists of Chutia Students’ Union of Golaghat district burnt the effigy of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Golaghat, Varli Deka near the Deputy Commissioner’s office and demanded that the DC should be brought under scanner as her me was revealed by Jiban Chandra Phukan.

Talking to media persons, the president  of the organization, Mohen Bora said that the role of the DC Varli Deka was suspicious in approving the file of the bar owner for granting permission to shift the bar. She should be suspended and an  inquiry should be ordered against her, he said.

Other hand, AJYC central committee’s joint secretary Jitul Rajkhow said that the DC had been completely failed to run the administration smoothly and sought action from Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal in this matter. Similarly, the president in-charge Mridul Saikia and secretary Abhibartan Goswami of AASU Golaghat district unit condemned the role of the DC and demanded a high-level inquiry. Besides, in an executive meeting of BJP Golaghat, a decision was taken to demand suspension of the DC and a probe against her.
