Protests against SJAM over ticket

From our Correspondent

Kokrajhar, March 14: As the BTAD election is approaching different political, non-political parties are making a show of strength with the aim of winning the council election.

Hundreds of supporters of Abdul Ali Mandal, who was deprived of party ticket for No 7-Fakiragram constituency, assembled at Bhotgaon Chariali in Kokrajhar on Saturday and burnt effigies of SJAM core-committee high command Sahabuddin Ali Ahamed and spokesperson Lafqul Islam Ahamed, alleging that the candidate selection procedure was not in favour of the general public. The supporters of Abdul Ali Mandal alleged that the SJAM core-committee and some of the ABMSU leaders had disregarded the opinion of the people who were demanding that Mandal should be made SJAM candidate for No-7 Fakiragram non-ST constituency. They said that instead of Mandal, SJAM declared Matur Rahmen as candidate from Fakiragram.

They also demanded that the SJAM core-committee should re-think the selection of candidate within a short time.
