Protests over assault on scribes continue

JORHAT/KOYAKUCHI, February 4: Jourlists of Jorhat district held a protest today in front of the DC office, Jorhat, demanding action against the police officers behind the attack on the female jourlist in Guwahati three days back. The protest, which was initiated by the Jorhat Press Club, was also participated by several student bodies.  A memorandum was submitted to the CM through the DC demanding immediate action against the guilty police officers.  On the other hand, the Bengali Youth Federation held a protest demanding justice to two jourlists who were assaulted at the Latasil Police Station in Guwahati three days back.  Chairman Mahanda Sarkar said that in order to strengthen a democracy, proper protection should be given to jourlists, but such behavior from the police is shameful for the state.
