Puja offered to Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma

SARUPATHAR, July 13: Two years have gone by since the construction of the PHC at Uriamghat in Dhansiri Subdivision of Golaghat district was completed. Unfortunately, for the people of the area, the health centre has not been inaugurated till today. While rhetoric flow thick and fast from Dispur, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has seemingly turned a blind eye towards the sufferings of the people of the area while all representations and appeals before various authorities have fallen on deaf ears.

Purportedly having no other way of approaching the health authority, the regional unit of the Chutia Students’ Union took to projecting Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as a God and offering prayer to him to make the PHC functional. With the help of a priest, the union activists offered worship in front of a photograph of the Health Minister on Friday. Perhaps, with a tinge of sarcasm, the student leaders wanted to convey the message that perhaps the Health Minister has started assuming that he has attained the status of a God and that he must be appeased some way or the other if anything is to be obtained.
