Puri assures inclusion of Itagar in Smart City list

Itagar, Oct 27: Aruchal Urban Development and Housing Minister bam Rebia on Thursday participated in the review meeting on Prime Ministers Flagship Programmes, under Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, organized for all the eight Northeastern States at Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati.

The meeting was organized to review the progress of Atal Mission for Urban Rejuvetion and Transformation (AMRUT), Smart City Transform-tion, Swatch Bharat Mission, tiol Urban Livelihood Mission and Prime Ministers Awas Yoja. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, after hearing the status of the progress of the programmes in the States, suggested for early implementation of the programmes.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by Rebia requesting the ministry to consider the Smart City proposal for Itagar, the minister assured for selection of the city under the mission within short period of time.

On request of Rebia, Puri assured to sanction all the North Eastern Urban Development Projects from the ministry, which were submitted to the ministry earlier under ADB funding.

The minister further stated that development of Aruchal Pradesh should not be hampered due to intervention of Chi.

The Union Minister said that the project period for all the projects has been extended for a period of 3 years. He suggested for early completion of the projects and also to submit new project proposals for further funding with the ministry.

The minister also assured to release the Central assistance of first installment against Pasighat Smart City at the earliest.

Later, he handed over the sanction order of the Centre of Rs 1.63 crore against balance differential Central Assistance for 4805 IHHL units under SBM (Urban) and Rs 2 lakh against PMAY-HFA (U) mission to Rebia.
