'Purvottar Rang Utsava' celebrating culture of Northeast

Bengaluru, Dec 2: The tiol School of Drama, New Delhi and tiol School of Drama, Bengaluru Centre, in association with Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Kartaka, is celebrating ‘ tiol Purvottar Rang Utsava’ from December 2 to December 6 at Guru k Bhawan, Bengaluru, stated a press release.  This unique ‘Rang Utsava’ is a theatre fest that commenced on November 26 in Delhi and has been presiding in cities like Jammu, Amritsar and filly Bengaluru. The event seeks to celebrate the contemporary culture of Northeast India and the elements of traditiol plays of the regions that have contributed to it. Purvottar Rang Utsav witnesses the participation by troupes from the Northeast region performing mulitilingual plays in languages like Assamese, Tiwa, Manipuri, Nepali, etc.

The event kickstarted with a Nepali play ‘Ab Aur hi’ by Sikkim Theatre Training Centre, directed by Bipin Kumar on December 2. The Assamese play ‘Life Canvas’ directed by Asim Kumar th will also be performed by the Sarsa group from Assam while the Tiwa Bhakha Sanskriti Charcha Samittee will be performing a Tiwa play ‘wor’ directed by Sahidul Haque. Manipuri play ‘Amamba Leiibaki Mathong Huktaba Ningthou’ directed by Pukhrambam Khogendro Singh will be staged by the Deal Repertory Theatre group on December 4. The five-day theatre fest will fetch up with another Manipuri play ‘Nongban Soura’ directed by Loitongbam Paringanba which will be performed by the Imphal Theatre group. The enthusiastic participants observes that it is indeed an achievement for them to have got selected for this fest.
