Put an end to child labour

Put an end to child labour

It has been observed that child labour is increasing day by day in India, but the government is not taking any tangible step to stop this practice. The Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 prohibits the employment of children below the age of 14 years in any of the listed hazardous occupations.

Child line, a helpline, is there for the same cause, but why they cannot stop this practice. On the World Day against Child Labour on June 21 every year we all go for rallies and shows with placards, but when it comes to reality we are not doing anything worthwhile. It is shameful that local and national media are not highlighting this social evil. It is the responsibility of the government as well as every citizen not to hire any child labourer for domestic work. Another important point is that we should do enough for the rehabilitation of poor children.
