Raid in Golaghat fish & meat market on Deputy Commissioner's instructions, 12 cases registered

GOLAGHAT: Following the instruction of the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Dhiren Hazarika, a team comprising officials of Supply, Food Safety, Fishery, Legal Metrology, Veterinary department carried out a raid in the fish and meat market of Golaghat town on Wednesday. At least 12 cases were registered against the vendors for violating rules. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials concerned in order to ensure that dishonest vendors do not provide decomposed fish and meat to the customers.

Golaghat fish and meat market is being run in an unhygienic atmosphere and a section of vendors has been selling decomposed fish-meat to customers. Under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Dr Tikumoni Bora, officials arrived suddenly in the market and checked various documents of 27 vendors. During the search, the team found that several vendors did not have legal documents like trade license, supply registration and sale and purchase documents.
