Railway Protection Force Arrests 27 Touts During 2019

GUWAHATI: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of NF Railway successfully arrested one tout on June 20, 2019. It is learnt that at about 10.30 am, Asst Sub Inspector / PC Thakuria along with Asst Sub Inspector / RK Baishya, Constable / Niren Barman, Constable / Brajen Baishya, of CIB (Crime Investigation Branch) team of RPF Rangiya led by Inspector/CIB/Rangiya, conducted drive against touting activities at PRS centre of Goreswar Railway station. During the raid, one person namely, Imdadul Islam, 31 yrs, S/O-Ainuddin Ahmed of Vill- Bhogpur, P/S-Goreswar, District-Baksa (BTAD) Assam, was arrested with recovery of two Tatkal Reservation cum journey tickets bearing PNR numbers 653-0797325 and 623-0799671 dated June 21, 19 Ex- Rangiya to Chennai Egmore, two filled up Railway requisition forms, two blank requisition forms & cash Rs 3340. Value of the seized tickets is Rs 7,245. A case vide No 167/19 U/S 143 Rly Act, dated June 20, 2019 was registered in this regard by Inspector/RPF/Rangiya.

It may be mentioned here that on June 13, 2019, P Biswakarma, Inspector/RPF /Dibrugarh along with Sub-Inspector/RPF / MK Singh, Asst Sub Inspector / S Pangging and staff of RPF/Post, Dibrugarh (Tinsukia Division) conducted raid and search from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm against touting activities at the shop “Mobile point” situated at Dillighat No 4, Namrup and at rented Quarter No 756 Sector F Type-III of BVFC Colony, Namrup. During raid they apprehended two persons namely, Mithun Choudhury, M/36 yrs, s/o Anil Choudhury, resident of Salibasa near SBI, PO + PS- Namrup, Dist-Dibrugarh (Assam) and Paragmoni Baruah, M/36 yrs, s/o late Mahendra Nath Baruah, resident of Qtr No 756F, Type-III of BVFC Colony Namrup, near CISF camp, PO & PS: Namrup Dist. Dibrugarh (Assam) with recovery of one live E-tickets- 01 No valued Rs 635, 33 Nos used E-tickets valued Rs 43,785, cash amount Rs 7,230, Commercial items, desktop with accessories, five ATM Cards, three Mobile handsets, one. printer, one Modem, one Dongle with accessories, and three Bank Pass Books. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Dibrugarh vide No 84/19 u/s 143 of Railways Act.

Again on June 14, 2019, Sub Inspector / RPF / MC Barman along with staff of RPF/Post/New Jalpaiguri, jointly with CIB(Crime Investigation Branch) and CPDS (Crime Prevention and Detection Squad) Team of New Jalpaiguri, conducted drive against touting activities at PRS/New Jalpaiguri. During raid RPF arrested one male person namely, Sujit Chowdhary, 28 yrs, s/o Dilip Chowdhary, Vill: Ramnagar Colony, PO Bhaktinagar, PS New Jalpaiguri, Dist Jalpaiguri (West Bengal), with recovery of two reservation tickets bearing PNR No 6430528523 worth Rs 3,040 (Tatkal) of train no 15483 DN for June 15, 2019 ex New Jalpaiguri to Delhi & PNR No 6230533651 worth Rs 165 (normal) of train No 13175 UP for June 19, 2019 ex New Jalpaiguri to Kokrajhar, two filled up Reservation Forms and one blank Reservation Form, one Samsung Mobile handset S/N RZ8JC0277HN with SIM 9832530464, one black coloured wallet containing two Visiting Cards of Shraddha Tour and Travels/New Jalpaiguri, Ramnagar Colony, one Voter ID Card of Sujit Chowdhary, having No WDB2118362, 01 PAN Card having no ANRPC0785G and Cash Rs 2,560. On interrogation, the arrested person confessed that he had bought the Railway Reservation Tickets for business purpose. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, New Jalpaiguri vide No 234/2019 u/s 143 of Railways Act.

It may be mentioned here that during the year 2018, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of NF Railway had successfully arrested and prosecuted 57 touts & 27 touts upto May, 2019 during raids conducted throughout NF Railway, a press release stated.
