Railway Protection Force (RPF) Successful In Curbing Crimes

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is the backbone of Indian Railway’s drive against all illegal/unauthorized activities for ensuring a safe, secured and hassle-free journey experience for its passengers and the RPF in NF Railway showed extraordinary performance during the last financial year ending on March 31, 2019. The achievements include continuing drive against carrying of contraband items, where RPF arrested 59 persons and recovered contraband items worth Rs8.11 crore, Railway Protection Force detection of 117 cases of stolen Railway Property worth Rs12 lakh with 182 arrests made, arrest of 58 persons in 55 cases where railway tickets were procured in un-authorized way through touts, prosecution under section 144 of the Railway Act of 5197 vendors for carrying out business un-authorized in railway premises, detection of 1189 cases and arrest of 1223 person for illegally stopping the train by pulling alarm chain.
