Rakesh Paul spending time  intoning music inside jail

GUWAHATI, June 25: Presumably, frustrated by the repeated denial of his bail plea by the Court, former APSC Chairman Rakesh Paul, who is presently undergoing judicial custody being the kingpin of the alleged APSC cash-for-job scam has been spending time by singing Rabha and Ravindra Sangeet at Guwahati Central Jail. According to source, the Central Jail observed Rabha Divas on June 24, where like other inmates Paul participated and intoned Rabha and Ravindra Sangeet.

The sources added that in the past couple of days, Paul has been observed uttering songs of various categories and is becoming more fascinated towards music inside the jail mesmerizing hundreds of inmates.

Notably, on this date, there are 1,299 at Guwahati Central Jail out of which 1,233 are male while 66 are female. The numbers of inmates undergoing jail terms on various charges are – 70 individuals under NIA, 2 convicted foreigners, five foreigners on remand, 685 males and 31 females under judicial remand, 7 under simple imprisonment, 256 males and 6 females under rigorous imprisonment while 119 males and 11 females are under NDPS besides others. Moreover, within these, there are also 33 individuals undergoing judicial custody who are accused of APSC cash-for-jib scam.

According to the source, the inmates are provided routine breakfast on 6:30 am that comprises tea and roti. The under trial prisoners get a piece of 90gm roti while the convicts get a piece of 120 gm roti. The lunch and dinner is provided on 9:30 am and 5:30 pm respectively. They are provided 100 gm of fish, meat or two eggs whatever is decided, twice in a week.
