Ranji Trophy: Uttar Pradesh take full control against Assam

GUWAHATI: Uttar Pradesh piled up huge total against Assam in the Ranji Trophy tie at Kanpur on Tuesday. In reply to Assam first innings total 175 Uttar Pradesh were 377-5 at stumps on day II. Rinku Singh remained not out on 96 while Upendra Yadav is giving him accompany on 38.

Uttar Pardesh today started from their overnight score 64-1. At the early stage of the day Assam bowlers were good on their target and the host lost two wickets adding another 64 runs on the board. But thereafter it was one sided affair. Three batsmen of the team-Mohammad Saif (58), Akash Deep Nath (81) and Rinku Singh (96no) scored half centuries. Rinku played 143 balls and hit eight boundaries and one six during his unbeaten knock. Akash hit ten boundaries in his 143 balls innings.

Uttar Pradesh are now leading by 202 runs and there are still five wickets in their hand.

Among the bowlers of Assam Arup Das, Ranjeet Mali, Mukhtar Hussain, Jitumoni Kalita and Gokul Sharma took one wicket each.
