Rapid Chess at AEC

GUWAHATI, March 22: A Rapid Chess tourment was held at Assam   Engineering College as part of its annual fest "Pyrokinesis". The tourment was organised by Assam Engineering College in association with Assam Chess Club. The event was sponsored by Akshayam, a city based sports promotion NGO and Indian post.

Altogether 52 players including 22 Fide rated players from different parts of Assam participated in this 7 round Swiss league rapid event. Rajib Dhar and L Imocha tied for the 1st position by scoring 6 points . However Rajib was adjusted champion on basis of better tie break score and Imocha had to settle with the second position. ndan Buragohain was placed 3rd in the fil ranking list. Prandeep Bhattacharya was adjusted the best AEC player.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Binod Khemka, working president, M Arun Singh, secretary Guwahati Chess Association, L Imocha, joint Secretary Dibrugarh Chess association and Biswajit Bharadwaj, secretary Assam Chess Club.
