Rashtriya Ekta Divas celebrated

Dibrugarh, Nov 1: NSS Digboi College Unit celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Divas at Digboi College on Tuesday. The programme stated with the introduction of this day and about the role of NSS in the society through Digboi College by Rajib Rudra Tariang, Programme Officer, NSS, while Kishor Haloi, Assistant Programme Officer,  spoke on  the purpose of the meeting.

The key resource person of the programme was Subhashish Gogoi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics of Digboi College. Gogoi while speaking on ‘Integrity and Unity in Diversity’, enlightened the young minds of the college. Many examples related to the topic were cleared among the participants. An oath-taking ceremony was also conducted by the NSS Digboi College Unit in association with the IOCL (Assam Oil Division) and IQAC of Digboi College about anti-corruption in Hindi, English and Assamese versions. A procession was also brought out from the India Club Digboi to the Jubilee Field via Digboi Chariali. A slogan contest was also organized among the students.

In the slogan contest, Pubali Saikia, stood first, Supriya Sarma second and Roshan Gupta came third in the HS 2nd year exam while Saurav Choudhary stood first, Sujata Das second and Siba Borah third in the slogan contest.  According to a press release issued here by the convener of the programme, College-level tiol Youth Parliamentary Competition was held on the occasion under the direction of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India, and supervised by the district administration of Tinsukia on October 30.

Rashtriya Ekta Divas or tiol Day for Unity, was organized by the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, here in association with ‘Aide et Action’, an intertiol NGO. The event started with ‘Run for Unity’ from Maijan LP School and moved in the nearby area in Brahmaputra River bank. Ram Bahadur Newar, Headmaster of Maijan LP School along with Prab Kumar th, Field Publicity Officer flagged, off the event amidst presence of a large number of people. While addressing the participants during the flagging off of the ‘Run for Unity’, Field Publicity Officer th highlighted the importance of unity and mutual harmony and the reasons why this day is celebrated.
