Re-polling in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts

Gaurisagar, Joysagar: Arrangements have been made to hold re-polling in many election centres and polling booths in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts on December 7. In Sivasagar re-polling will be done in the Amguri centre, in the Namtiali-84 booth and in the Lunpuria 89 booth. Similarly, in Charaideo district, re-polling will be held in Rohdoi Pukhuri Panchayat, Holou Phukan Panchaya and in Sapekhati Bagalhabi centre.

Besides, in a booth of Nazira subdivision also re-polling will be held on Friday. Meanwhile, the Sapekhati Police have held as many as six persons who allegedly tried to create disturbance and trouble during the first phase of panchayat poll on Wednesday. The village headman of Kanubari in Charaideo was also booked by the police for rigging on Wednesday. He was identified as Siddheswar Saikia. In another incident that took place in Borguri Gaon Panchayat of Charaideo district, a panchayat president candidate representing the AGP could not cast her vote due to anomalies in the voters' list. The candidate, Nivarani Gogoi formally filed a complaint before the district election authorities on Thursday.

Re-polling will be held in two polling stations under Amguri LAC - No 84 Kukurachua LP School and No. 89 Purani Lunpuria LP School under Dupdar Zila Parishad in Sivasagar district on Friday from 7 am to 3 pm. Polling held in the two polling stations on Wednesday was vitiated to such an extent that results of the poll could not be ascertained. Some ballot papers of other polling stations were used by the voters in these two polling stations.
