Recall JP Rajkhowa, appeals Aruchal People's Adalat

ITAGAR, Jan 4: Over 30 thousand people today univocally demanded immediate recall of Aruchal Pradesh governor J P Rajkhowa from the state in the ‘Aruchal People’s Adalat’ organized at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in harlagun near here.

“We the people the state have strongly condemned the undemocratic, unethical & unconstitutiol act of Governor for trying to destabilise the popularly elected and mandated government, his anti-tribal, anti-development and anti-people approach by encouraging dissidence activities within the ruling party through unscrupulous means with malicious intentions leading to chaos and disharmony,” the resolutions said which was read out by organizing committee chairman and former MP Takam Sanjoy said.

The adalat, participated by various ministers, MLAs and mass-based organisations including All Aruchal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) and All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU), also demand the Centre to recall him within 24-hour for losing the confidence of the public as his continuation would demoralize the essence of democracy and be a severe blow to the Constitution of which he made a mockery.

The resolution also urged the Centre to replace Rajkhowa with a new incumbent with army or exterl affairs background having knowledge and acumen to deal with the strategic affairs of this sensitive border state.

The adalat in another resolution demanded the Centre to take immediate appropriate measure to resettle the Chakma and Hajong refugees in some other parts of the country and protect the tribal right, culture of the strategic and sensitive state from outside influence.

The state government was also urged to take legal action against former fince minister and dissident leader Kalikho Pul for creating social disharmony, hatred and division through recent derogatory remarks against the Nyishi community.
