Red Chilli powder attack on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal!

Guwahati: In a rather bizarre instance of hatred or violence, you may say, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was attacked with red chilli powder by a man in the Delhi Secretariat. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when the Delhi CM was walking out of his office.

As stated by Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Chief Minister was walking out of his office on the third floor of the Secretariat and then suddenly a man came up to him and threw chilli powder at him. The CM was wearing his glasses at that time which left broken at the sudden outbreak of attack by the man. The incident took place at around 2.10 p.m. when Kejriwal was going to his home for his lunch break.

AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha was also accompanying Mr. Kejriwal during the chilli powder attack. Stating the incident, Raghav made a Twitter post, wherein he stated: "Was right behind CM Arvind Kejriwal at the Secretariat when he was suddenly attacked, on the third floor right outside his office. Shocking lapse of security. Is this Delhi Police's incompetent effort to protect an elected CM? (Sic)".

The attacker is being identified as Anil Kumar Sharma of Naraina, who, according to an eyewitness, approached Kejriwal under the pretext of touching his feet. However, right after that, uttering the sentence, "you are my hope," he threw the chilli powder toward the eyes of the CM. it is in this commotion that Mr. Kejriwal's glasses broke.

The attacker was immediately apprehended and taken into police custody. The party workers of AAP have, however, blamed the police that this is a "serious security lapse". According to them, such an inconvenience would not get to happen if the police would have provided the Delhi CM with adequate security.

AAP lawmaker Alka Lamba said, "The accused called out to the chief minister, took out a letter along with chilli powder from his pocket and threw it at him. The chilli powder did not go in the eyes of Arvind Kejriwal as he wears glasses. But the glasses fell and broke as the chief minister tried to duck."
