Red Horns Division offers wheelchair to differently- abled children

MANGALDAI: The troops of Red Horns Division, while assisting the civil administration in containing the insurgency in Udalguri and Darrang districts, has always been extending a helping hand to the down-trodden section living in the far-flung remote and rural areas.

Reiterating their commitment towards the down-trodden section, the Red Horn’s Artillery Brigade offered wheelchairs to 11 differently- abled children from weaker sections, walking sticks, crutches, hearing aid, walkers and spectacles to the needy people under ‘Operation Sadbhavana’.

Commander of Red Horn’s Artillery Brigade, Brigadier Manish Pande ceremonially offered these aid to the people living in and around Hattigorh Military Station on the foothills of Bhutan in Udalguri district. For this initiative, the army prepared a budget of Rs 6 lakh. Taking part in the aid distribution function as the chief guest, Brigadier Pande spoke on the key role played by the army towards the all-round development and welfare of the fellow countrymen.

“The need of the hour is to make a stronger nation with unity, communal harmony and a strong feeling of patriotism so that no anti-social vested interested circles can destabilize the spirit of unity,” said Brigadier Pande while making an appeal to the younger generation to come forward to contribute for a prosperous nation.

In the function, Brigadier Pande also dedicated the newly-constructed toilet block at Vikash Vidyalaya- a model school at the Military Station run by the Artillery Brigade.
