Regional bodies of Axam Xahitya Xabha observe ‘Nijor Din’ on the first day of Bohag on April 15

LAKHIMPUR: Various organizations and institutions of Lakhimpur district celebrated Rongali Bihu by initiating different programmes of their own agenda. Besides the Lakhimpur District Xahitya Xabha, the regional committees also observed ‘Nijor Din’ scheduled by Axom Xahitya Xabha on the first day of Bohag on April 15. Through this programme, noted persons who contributed much to literature, culture or any other arena in order to build an ameliorated society through his or her talent and service, were felicitated. The Telahi Kamala Boria Regional Xahitya Xabha felicitated retired teacher and literary figure Kamal Gogoi at his residence at Deubil Bantow observing Nijor Din on that day. On this occasion, a special programme with the recitation of poetry and presentation of Bihu dance and songs was held at his residential campus under the chairmanship of president Jagyo Narayan Hundique.

Similarly, the dignitaries of Ranganadi Poriya Regional Xahitya Xabha, led by president Sada Borah and secretary Horo Bhuyan, felicitated social activists Holiram Borah and Upama Bhuyan with the citation of Axam Xahtya Xabha and Bihuwan. A delegation of Bihpuriya Regional Xahitya Xabha, led by president Sandika Dutta Konwar and vice-president Anil Kakati felicitated four prominent personalities of Bihpuriya-Reba Hazarika, Indu Bhusan Saha, Labanya Hazarika and Mahen Sarmah. On the other hand, the North Lakhimpur unit of Kabi Sanmilan initiated ‘Bohagi Boron’ programme on April 15. The literary organization, led by president Dr. Jagadish Goswami and secretary Pankaj Sabhapandit felicitated five prominent literary figures of Lakhimpur— Swarna Dhekial Phukan, Binod Chandra Hazarika, former Deori Xahtya Xabha president Sashadhar Deori along with Dwijendra Nath Sabhapandit, initiating the programme of Bohagi Boron.
