Renowned poet Raghunath Choudhury recalled at Nagaon

NAGAON: Birina Gusthi, Assam, a literary organization of the State, on Sunday observed the memorial day of renowned Assamese poet of the Jonaki era of Assamese literature, Raghunath Choudhury at Nagaon District Library auditorium.

A special poem reading programme ‘Birina Baibhav’ was held at the same venue. The programme was inaugurated by the general secretary of All Assam Journalists’ Union (AAJU), Nakul Talukdar. ADC Lasit Das, Abha Bora, president of Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh, renowned writer L Pradeep Kumar Singha, dramatist Udoy Barman and Hareswar Borah, district president of All Assam Journalists’ Union, were present in the programme and they spoke about the works of Raghunath Choudhury.

In the function, the literary organization specially felicitated lyricist, singer and popular writer of Nagaon, Gulap Bora with a gamosa, cheleng, japi made of brass and citation.
