Resolution to build strong, secure, peaceful and foreigner-free Assam: AGP

Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh District Committee of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) observed Martyrs’ Day on Monday with an elaborate programme. District president Ponakon Baruah kicked off the day’s function with the hoisting of party flag, which followed by swahid tarpan. The party’s central committee member, Dipak Saikia, district vice-president, Taranath Buragohain and secretary of Asom Mohila Parishad, Sahera Laskar paid floral tributes to all those martyrs who sacrificed their lives during six-year long Assam Agitation.

The senior member of the party, Dr Kamini Ranjan Baruah administered the oath of the Martyrs’ Day among the members and office bearers assembled on the occasion. The members resolved to build a strong, secure, peaceful and foreigner-free Assam. They also expressed their commitment that if necessary they would not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for uphold the dignity of land its people and own rights. District president Ponakon Baruah in his address recalled the extreme sacrifices of the martyrs and said that true tributes would be paid to them when all foreigners were deported from the State as per provision laid down in the Assam Accord. Earlier, naam prasanga and recitation of the Koran and the Bible were performed on the occasion.
