Restriction on wood charcoal export to Bhutan lifted

TAMALPUR, Jan 31: The government has lifted the restriction on wood charcoal export to Bhutan. General Mager of SD Eastern Bhutan Ferro Silicon Pvt. Ltd, Som Wangchuk on Tuesday said that the Director General of Foreign Trade stated in a notification that 'there will be no prohibition on export of wood charcoal to Bhutan'.

 He further said that 'considering India's bilateral relations with that country, the government has decided to lift the restriction'. The General Mager said that many industries of Bhutan were dependent on wood charcoal and the government had lifted the restriction on wood charcoal to Bhutan so as to help domestic industries of the land-locked tion.

On January 24, Tamulpur police had seized nine trucks carrying wood charcoal from Rangia railway station to Samdrup Jhangkhar SD Eastern Bhutan Ferro Silicon Pvt. Ltd. After inquiry with the help of the forest department and when the police found all documents legal, the trucks were released.  Som Wangchuk thanked Tamulpur police for releasing the trucks loaded with wood charcoal.
