Resume work on LSHEP: ASF
FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
Itagar, April 21: The Aruchal Students Forum (ASF) in a memorandum addressed to the power minister on Wednesday sought his immediate intervention for resumption of construction works for 2000 MW Lower Subansiri Hydro Electric Project at Gerukamukh.
Asserting that the project is one of the largest hydro projects under construction in the country having an installed capacity of 2,000 MW, the construction work of which was stopped due to protest by anti-dam antagonist in neighbouring Assam, the federation said that if constructed, the dam would serve as flood attenuation during the monsoon season.
“The project would serve as an employment oriented institute. Many local youths of the project domicile would get opportunity to work at various capacities which would serve as a boon for the unemployed youths as well to diminish the problem of unemployment in the state. Not only will it be benefiting the local domicile youths but also the unemployed engineers of the state would find the opportunity to serve in the said project,” the ASF further wrote in its letter.
