Right To Information (RTI) activist of Dima Hasao dissatisfied with reply of NC Hills Autonomous Council

Haflong, July 20: Joel Sengyung, an RTI activist of Dima Hasao, expressed dissatisfaction over the reply of the SPIO and Senior Finance and Accounts Officer, NC Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong relating to the government sanctioned fund of Rs 25 crore meant for the payment of pending salary of the employees of NC Hills Autonomous Council.

Sengyung, along with Satminthang Khunsai, at a press meet held at the premises of ‘Nothao’, said that he had applied for information regarding the government sanctioned fund of Rs 25 crore meant for the payment of pending salary of the employees of the NC Hills Autonomous Council, under RTI Act, 2005 addressed to the Principal Secretary (T) NCHAC on May 29, 2018. He received the reply from SPIO and Senior Finance and Accounts Officer, NC Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong, that out of Rs 25 crore, the NCHAC had earmarked Rs 15 crore for salary and Rs 10 crore for various works. The total amount spent on salary as on 4.5.2018 was Rs 12,75,65,823. Also Rs 33 lakh was spent for purchase of JCB under PWD Haflong Division. Addressing the mediapersons in the press meet, Sengyung said, “Since I am not satisfied with the reply to my RTI application, I will approach the appropriate authority very soon but at the same I would like to inform the people of Dima Hasao that the fund meant for payment of salary is being used for the purchase of machinery for the PWD.”
