GUWAHATI, July 8: Rishab Himatsingka, Director of Mukesh Hyundai showroom/workshop at Ganeshguri, was arrested by the Dispur Police from Disang Resort at Sonapur on the outskirts of the city today. Following the arrest the accused was produced before the court which sent him on judicial remand for 14 days.
It may be recalled that Himatsingka allegedly assaulted a senior member of the staff of showroom/workshop on Thursday at the showroom itself. Besides physical assault, Das, who has been in service at the establishment for the last 15 years was mentally humiliated in front of all the staff and forced to kneel down inside the workshop.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the All Assam Automobile Labour Union general secretary has strongly condemned the act and demanded apology from the Director of the workshop. He alleged that a number of industries from outside the state are exploiting the local work force with low wages. The staff have been facing such inhuman torture and humiliation from time to time which needs to be streamlined, he said.
The workers of the workshop who witnessed the ruthless assault on the spot also condemned the incident and demanded immediate apology from the Director failing which they have threatened to bring all activities to a halt.
