RJD State president passes away

JOYSAGAR, April 1: Renowned doctor, social worker, actor and the president of the Rashtriya Jata Dal (RJD), Dr. Gunin Basumatari breathed his last on Friday in Cheni. He was 68. Dr. Basumatari was a senior physician in ONGC Hospital and he has served in various hospitals of ONGC, including  ONGC Delhi Hospital. Besides, he was deeply associated with various cultural organizations and used to perform in several local plays that were staged in Sivasagar tya Mandir. In 2014, Dr Basumatari joined the Liberal Democratic Party and fielded himself as a candidate from 108 Sivasagar constituency but he lost. Later, Dr. Basumatari joined RJD and was chosen as the State president. He leaves behind three sons and a host of relatives. His death has been widely mourned.
