Road communication between Haflong-Silchar disrupted

Haflong, May 6: Road communication between Haflong- Silchar has been disrupted due to damage on the road at several locations near Rekho village and Boromuolkhoi village following heavy rain on Sunday. The condition of the road between Jatinga and Harangajao of NH-54, popularly known as the East-West corridor, which is supposed to connect Saurastra to Silchar, remained in a precarious condition for long as the construction company NKC-JKM (JV) left this stretch half done for reasons best known to the NHAI authority.

There have been dharnas and road blockades to demand immediate completion of this road for several years but the NHAI seems to be silent and indifferent towards the sufferings of the people. The people of Dima Hasao have now appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the issue.
