Every year, during the monsoons, the residents of Rongpur have to face this problem. They have to wade across deep water, as the roads remain submerged under water. Members of Sarbangin Jakalyan Samiti have requested the authorities concerned to take necessary action in this regard. An active worker of the Samiti, Lucky Ahmed Barlaskar said that every year the people residing at Rongpur area has to counter the problem of water logging. They said that administration is silent on this issue. In addition to Rongpur and its nearby areas, this problem is also persistent in other places of the valley.

Owing to the incessant rain, road conditions have become pathetic. The members of the Samiti have also requested the Gram Panchayats, Anchalik Panchayats and authorities concerned to look into the matter. Since Rongpur comes under Udharbond constituency, they said that this issue would be brought before Mihir Kanti Shome, the newly elected entrant to the 126-member Assam Assembly, who is also from Udharbond. An NGO, Dhamal has requested Shome to pay special attention to the issue.

Zakaria Ahmed Barbhuiya, general secretary, Sarbangin Jakalyan Samiti, has hinted at organizing a protest if necessary action is not taken by the administration.
