Royal Bengal Tigress Spotted at Ruskin, Itanagar

ITANAGAR: A Royal Bengal tigress with her two cubs was reportedly spotted in the foot hills of Debing village under Ruksin Sub Division of East Siang District on Wednesday last.

It was spotted by women folk when they were on their way to fields which created panic among the residents and prompting them to remain in the house. Tigress sighting have increased in the areas over the few months, according to villagers.

The residents of Debing village are scared to get out of the house or go out to the field. Villagers expressed their concern over especially for their children and cattle. According to the villagers, the tigress is wandering in the hilly forests adjacent to Gutin Reserve Forest in Arunachal Pradesh and preying on domestic animals. The villagers of Debing Village demanded the wildlife department to increase the number of guards in the area.

“However, there is a need for regular monitoring, we demand immediate deployment of more guards for our children’s safety,” said a resident of Debing village. The forest department and the administration are yet for now taking all influential steps for the safety of the villagers as well as the domestic animals.
