Rs 292 cr compensation to tea estates for land acquistion

Guwahati, April 2: The Assam government has acquired 1,324 bighas and two kathas of land of 51 tea estates in the districts of Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Cachar, Sonitpur and Kamrup (Metro) for four-laning of tiol highways in the State. An amount of Rs 292.90 crore has been given to the tea estates for compensation for the land acquired between 2001 and 2017. This was revealed by State Revenue Minister Pallab Lochan Das in his response to a question by Congress MLA Durga Bhumij in the State Assembly.
