LAKHIMPUR: A scam of Rs 60 lakh has rocked the North Lakhimpur Municipal Board (NLMB). In this regard, North Lakhimpur Police on Monday arrested one person for alleged involvement in the scam - Jan Hazarika, residing at Ward No. 7 in North Lakhimpur town, and husband of Gitimoni Hazarika, the ward commissioner of the ward. As per report, Jan Hazarika betrayed over 15 unemployed youths of the town by collecting more than Rs 60 lakh from them since the month of May. On Sunday night, he was caught at Madhupur of Biswanath Chariali by a section of the victims and then he was handed over to North Lakhimpur Police. The fraudster confessed all his crimes in front of the police who arrested him after registering a case vide No. 1195/2018 US 420/406 IPC at North Lakhimpur Police Station on Monday.
