SAA chairman seeks consideration of schemes under Khelo India

Itagar, Apr 7: Sports Authority of Aruchal (SAA) Chairman Bamang Tago on Friday called on Sports Authority of India (SAI) deputy director general Sandeep Pradhan at New Delhi and urged him to consider the schemes submitted by the Aruchal Pradesh government for developing sports infrastructure in the State.
Tago apprised the DDG of the problems being faced in developing sports in Aruchal due to lack of sports infrastructure. He said that many tiol sports federations have refused to conduct their tiol events in Aruchal citing uvailability of infrastructure.
Pradhan expressed appreciation for the Aruchal government’s proposing various projects under the Khelo India scheme, but said he would be uble to consider all the proposals.
He suggested prioritizing a project called ‘District level sports school’ – a newly designed project under Khelo India for all disciplines in one place (centre of excellence) – in an around the state capital to tap and groom sports talents.
The SAI assured to adopt Chimpu-based Sangay Lhaden Sports School till a district level sports school comes up.
The meeting was also attended by Assistant Director (Operations) Dr VK Sharma, and Youth Affairs & Sports Assistant Director Prashant Kumar, an official release informed here today.
