SAG participants will start to arrive this week

GUWAHATI, Jan 23:  Indian contingent for the 12th SAF Games will start to arrive in the city by the next couple of days while the teams of other participating countries will land in Guwahati and Shillong from February 2 and 3. The Games will kick off on February 5 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in the city and around 3000 players and officials from eight countries are expected to participate in it.

Talking to The Sentinel, a source from the Sports FA of SAF Games said, “ India will take part in all 23 events of the Games as well as Nepal too. Sri Lanka is the other country who is expected to send team for all the events.”

Meanwhile although there was rumor in the city that Pakistan will skip hockey event but such possibility was ruled out by the source. “ Pakistan has confirmed participation in hockey and there is no change in the schedule.”

The events for the 12  SAF Games will kick off on the iugural day, February 5, with volleyball and archery. Volleyball will be held at the bin Chandra Bordoloi indoor stadium while JLN Sports Complex Polo Ground, Shillong will be the venue of the archery.
