GUWAHATI, July 24: The Sadou Asom Gaon Panchayat Prerak Sangstha (ASGPPS) is going to cancel their Rashtriya Buniadi Saksharata Examition scheduled in August for lack of books and other facilities of the students.
ASGPPS secretary Manoj Kumar Barman said: “there are 3620 employees are working under this project with the remuneration of Rs 2,000 per month. However, the employees have not got their remuneration of more than 20 months in various districts. The government also did not provide any facilities to the centres and students for which they were not well prepared for appearing in the examition. Though, the governments promised to provide many facilities for the literacy of the people of more than 15 years of age, more than 50 per cent of those facilities were not fulfilled. We, therefore, demand to the Director Adult Education Saradi Saikia to send the proposal letter for regularizing our jobs to the central government within the month of July or we have to cancel the examition. We also demand to start the inquiry in the matter of ongoing Saakshar ?Bharat Programme in Assam, which was proposed in last February month by central government, otherwise we will stage dhar in front of the office of the Director and will also go for filing case in High Court.”
