Sampark 2017 to encourage entrepreneurship in Northeast

 Tezpur, Feb 18: The Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University jointlywith the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and North Eastern Fince Corporation Limited (NEDFi), will organize Sampark 2017 on March 3. Sampark is the annual industry-academia interface event of the Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University and this will be the 17th edition in the series.

Addressing a curtain raiser press conference held on Saturday at the University campus, Professor Subhrangshu Sekhar Sarkar, faculty coorditor, Sampark 2017, said that in all the previous 16 occasions, Sampark was organized, emphasizing only on placement of students in various corporate houses, but this year the focus would be on development of the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students.

“To encourage the students towards entrepreneurship, a Pioneering Business Idea Challenge 2017 will be organized as a part of the event. The contest is open to any student of the north-eastern region having a business idea. The winners will not only receive prizes but also get a chance to present the ideas before the funding agencies for probable fincing. The first, second and third prize winners will receive Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively,” he stated adding that the contest was open till February 26, 2017 and the details are available at the Tezpur University website and at dare2compete.com.

Appreciating theefforts of DoNER Ministry, Government of India, Prof. Sarkar said that this was the first time DoNER Ministry was jointly organizing Sampark with the Department of Business Administration and the Ministry was very serious about promoting entrepreneurship in Northeast region. Sampark 2017 is expected to create a platform towards awareness and initiation for entrepreneurship development based on tural resources of this region. Sampark 2017 will have different sessions to motivate the students to be addressed by established entrepreneurs, prominent start-ups. A session on Act East Policy (one of India’s foreign policy effort to cultivate extensive economic and strategic relations with the tions of Southeast Asia) will also feature in the event. There will be an exclusive interaction where the funding agencies represented by respective heads of the north-eastern region will clarify various queries of the prospective entrepreneurs and start-ups. veen Verma, Secretary, DoNER, Government of India, will be the chief guest. SN Pradhan, Joint Secretary, DoNER and B. Paul Muktieh, chairman and maging Director, North East Development Fince Corporation Ltd. will be the other prominent dignitaries to grace the event. Prof. Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri, Vice-Chancellor, Tezpur University will preside over the iugural Session.

Professor Sarkar concluded by saying that the Department of Business Administration was also trying to encourage the students to follow the path of entrepreneurship and keeping this objective in mind, Sampark 2017 was aimed at creating the spirit of entrepreneurship in the minds of the students and the theme of the event was based on ‘Parivartan- Towards Entrepreneurial Mindset’.

Apart from Prof. Sarkar, the press conference was also attended by Dr. Papori Baruah, Head of the Department of Business Administration, Dr. Rajeev Kr. Doley, chairperson, Media Cell, Tezpur University, Prof. Chanda Goswami, Dean, School of Magement Sciences, Samaresh Barman, Publi Relations Officer, and Raj Kiran Doley, member, convener, Media Cell, Tezpur University.
