SHILLONG, Jan 6: The Monitoring-cum-implementation Committee (MCIC), in collaboration with Dorbar Shnong of Upper Lumparing, organised a foundation stone laying ceremony on Saturday for construction of 10 PWD roads in Mynsain, Bhutia Mandir, New Colony, Lumdorbar, Lumsohphoh and Upper Lumparing areas.
Estimated to cost Rs 3.97 crore, the project was initiated, recommended and iugurated by former local MLA Sanbor Shullai, in the presence of HB Wahlang, headman, Rangbah Dong (assistant headman), members of Dorbar Shnong and residents of greater Lumparing area.
The function was presided over by Wahlang, who appreciated and lauded the initiative and sustained efforts of Shullai for bringing various developmental schemes from different departments to South Shillong constituency, and thereby fulfilling the aspirations of the people of greater Lumparing in particular and South Shillong in general. The iuguration function was also attended by various church leaders, members of Dorbar Shnong local NGOs and more than thousands people of greater Lumparing area.
MCIC secretary Anthony Marwein also appreciated and lauded the efforts of Shullai for his hard work and persol initiative, for which various developmental schemes have been selected, approved and sanctioned by the government.
Shullai, during his speech, expressed his thanks to all land owners of greater Lumparing area for doting their lands free of cost for the road projects and suggested members of MCIC to monitor all the projects in collaboration with all Dorbar Shnong of greater Lumparing and officials of PWD for their speedy implementation, besides ensuring quality work.
