Sanjukta to get rare honour

GUWAHATI, April 17: Assamese designer Sanjukta Dutta, known for her contribution in the revival of handloom and providing a livelihood to the artisans of Assam, is being honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award, 2018.

Sanjukta is one of the first designers to be felicitated with this honour, as a part of the ‘She Can Fly’ initiative of Smile Foundation, the Charity partner for Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards, 2018. “She Can Fly” is an initiative of Smile Foundation to enable, equip, empower girl child with quality education, proper nutrition, good health, adequate skills and above all a lot of self-confidence to help them live their lives to their fullest potential. The initiative will also focus on bringing attention to the pay gaps that affect women in the Bollywood industry. The awards are being organized on April 21, 2018 at St. Andrews Auditorium.
