Saraswati Puja celebrated with enthusiasm

GUWAHATI, Feb 1: Saraswati Puja, the festival of worshipping the Goddess of Learning and music, was celebrated across the State on Tuesday with great enthusiasm.

Saraswati idols, brought in the school and college campuses the previous evening, were worshipped in the morning hours followed by distribution of prasad.

In Guwahati too, Saraswati Puja was a grand affair with schools and colleges and abuzz with students dressed in their best traditiol attires and indulged in frivolity. The young and fashion conscious crowd was the main attraction on the occasion.

From the streets to the educatiol institutions and the roadside pandals, the students were everywhere, dressed in their festive best to mark the occasion and pay obeisance to the goddess.

Commuters, however, had a harrowing day due to the massive traffic srls on almost all the arterial roads and adjoining lanes and bye lanes of the city. Traffic almost came to a standstill on RG Baruah Road and MRD road of the city.

Parks, restaurants and shopping malls of the city were abuzz with people, especially youngsters. Hundreds of youngsters throng Sradhanjali Kan, a park located opposite State Zoo resulting in massive traffic congestion on RG Baruah road.

Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today visited Cotton College and Handique Girls’ College in the city and shared the joy of the festival with the students.

“May the spiritual atmosphere of Saraswati Puja encourage all the students to excel in their respective fields,” said Gogoi.
