Jorhat, March 15: BJP’s chief ministerial candidate and State president Sarbanda Sonowal will file his nomition papers before the returning officer of Majuli on Wednesday.
Sonowal reached the island at around 5.30 pm on Tuesday with a three-day long programme. He is also scheduled to address a public rally at Garmur mini stadium after filing nomition papers on Wednesday and to hold a talk with the representatives of several organizations and individuals in his constituency on Thursday. BJP party sources said they will take out a mass rally on Wednesday when the Union Minister will file his nomition papers.
“More than 10,000 party workers are getting ready to go with our chief ministerial candidate Sarbanda Sonowal to file his nomition papers. AGP president Atul Borah, former cabinet minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa will also participate in the programme,” said a BJP leader in Majuli.
Sonowal visited the Vaisviate mosteries in the island like Dakhinpat, Samoguri, Bhogpur, Bengaati and tun Kamalabari after he reached the island by ferry service at Apholamukh on Tuesday.
