Say no to atrocities on women: AIDYO

From Our Correspondent

Silchar, Dec 17: 5 years ago, on a chilly night of December 16 in South Delhi, a girl was brutally beaten, assaulted, tortured and gang raped in a private bus. It was one of the most violent inhuman acts ever inflicted on women. 5 years have passed since then, but December 16 still brings tears and a chill runs down our spine. Atrocities on womenfolk, however disturbing, are but a common phenomenon. A number of tiol and regiol organizations have been observing December 16 as ‘Anti Women Atrocities Day’. In corroboration with the whole country, district committee of All India Democratic Youth Organization (AIDYO) also organized a protest rally and converged in front of the statue of Khudiram Bose, at Park road, Silchar on Saturday.

Members of All India DSO, All India MSS, All India DYO and AIDSO actively participated in the rally and raised voice for punishing the culprits involved in that heinous crime. They all spoke at length on issues related to safety and security of womenfolk in India. The rise in crime against children, girls, girl students and women is a serious matter of concern. They stated that strong and strict laws should be implemented against such crimes and crimils. The members opined that uploading vulgar photos of women in social media and prohibition of liquor should be stopped, and crimils committing heinous crimes like rape and murder should be brought to book immediately and punished severely. Dulali Ganguly, Bijit Kumar Sinha and Swagata Bhattacharjee were among other members present at the occasion.
