'SC, ST welfare on Government?s agenda'

Itagar, April 26: The government is concerned about the welfare of SCs and STs and is proactively pursuing the matter at the highest level, asserted Aruchal Pradesh principal secretary for home Satya Gopal as he on Tuesday convened an interactive meeting with DCs, SPs, officers, NGOs and public at the Golden Jubilee Banquet hall here.

The meeting was initiated after the proposed camp cum open hearing of the tiol Human Right Commission scheduled to be held on the day was cancelled as the team could not make it to the capital here due to inclement weather. Regarding setting up of the State Human Right Commission, Commission for Child Rights, vexed inter- state boundary issue, plight of the population living within the forest areas etc,  the principal secretary informed that, actions were being taken up at the appropriate levels. He also advised some NGOs to be more aware of the benefits of the government welfare schemes and also directed the officers to educate the public, so that deserving beneficiaries were not deprived. While replying to a complaint regarding non- supply of drinking water under tiol Rural Drinking Water Supply programme at Debing village, Gopal directed East Siang DC Tamio Tatak to persolly verify and submit reports immediately for further action.
