School Administrator of A Reputed CBSE School Arrested in Tinsukia, Assam

TINSUKIA: An administrator of a reputed CBSE school here was arrested and later released on bail after he allegedly resorted to corporal punishment on students for being a few minutes late to arrive at the school premises. According to reports, a guardian of Class VI student Anjani Kumar Goel lodged an FIR at Tinsukia PS stating that the administrator Ankit Agarwal directed all latecomers to come out of their classes and made them to sit under the scorching sun for five hours. As many as 64 students from six classes were punished against all standing norms and mandates of CBSE.

The guardian initially approached the secretary of the school, Mayur Agarwal for redress but the secretary allegedly tried to safeguard the administrative officer, the FIR stated. The guardian then lodged the FIR against both the secretary and administrative officer. Though the incident occurred a week back, the school management has not initiated any action against the erring administrative officer as yet.

Sources close to the school management said Ankit Agarwal should have been immediately suspended. According to a source, prior to joining Tinsukia English Academy, Ankit Agarwal was working in another reputed CBSE school for girls in Tinsukia as Mathematics teacher but he was dismissed. There were also lapses on the part of the principal of the school who allegedly remained indifferent towards maintaining discipline inside the school premises.
