School celebrates establishment day

mrup, Jan 3: The Basundhara Jatiya Vidyalaya, one of the leading schools in mrup, celebrated its 8th establishment day on Tuesday with a day-long glittering programme. The celebration  started with am prasanga along with the hoisting of flag by Chatra Singh Deuri, Principal, Basundhara Jatiya Vidyalaya. It was followed by lighting of the earthen lamp by Pallab Saikia, Director, Basundhara Jatiya Vidyalaya. To mark the occasion, a plantation programme was held which was iugurated by Padmashree awardee Jadav Payeng.

The core programme of the celebration was initiated by Chaitanya Konwar, secretary, Education and Social Trust of the school. Attending the celebration as the chief guest, Jadav Payeng in his speech urged everyone to plant trees to save the environment and to tackle the problem of climate change.

In the programme, dignitaries including Rohini Kantha Sarmah, DGM (HR), Prab Kumar Bhattacharyya, Chief Administrative Officer, BVFCL, Hiranya Hazarika, Principal, BVFC, HS School, and representatives of  several socio-cultural organizations and jourlist groups were present. A souvenir Anwesha was released by Kushal Khanikar, noted writer, jourlist and Dr Ambedkar Award winner, who was also accorded warm felicitation in the programme. The main attraction of the day was the cultural performances of the Vidyalaya’s children which included chorus, Xattriya dance, and recitation.
