School celebrates silver jubilee

DOOMDOOMA, April 11: The Learners’ High School which was set up in 1992 as an English medium school at Rupaisiding, celebrated its silver jubilee with a two-day long programme on Monday and Tuesday. On the first day, Arjun Baruah, president of the silver jubilee celebration committee, hoisted the silver jubilee flag while Varghese Panjikaran, the secretary-cum-magaing director of the school, hoisted the flag of the Learners’ School. It was followed by smriti tarpan by Jhikanda Borgohain, working president, and a lively alumni meet. On the concluding day,  a colourful cultural procession was taken out in the morning where the students of the school took part in different groups along with Gayan-Bayan in Rupaisiding. The open session was held in the afternoon with president Arjun Baruah in the chair. Dhandev Mahanta, retired chairman, Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) attended the function as chief guest while Abdul Jelil, Inspector of Schools, Tinsukia, Ra Changmai, former president, Assam College Teachers Association (ACTA) and Linuma Gogoi, Rastriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan, Tinsukia District attended as guests of honour.
