School Principal dies in road mishap, another injured

Digboi, Feb 7: One person died on the spot while another was injured in a road mishap that occurred at Dirak Charali under Kakopather Police Station in Tinsukia district following a head-on collision between a Maruti 800 and a tractor carrying mud without registration number plate on it. The deceased has been identified as Marcel Megu, the Principal of Government Higher Secondary School at Old Mohong of Changlang district in Aruchal Pradesh, while the injured was a teacher at Mahadevpur Sitpani, Ibrahim Pying of msai district. According to eye witness, the incident occurred when the Old Mohong-bound white Maruti car (AR 09 8259) returning from Doomdoma collided with a tractor carrying mud coming from the opposite direction, thereby killing Megu, who was driving the ill-fated car, on the spot and injuring Pying. Following the postmortem, the deceased was cremated at his residence on Monday while the injured is under treatment. With the untimely death of a school Principal who basically hails from Adi community of Pasighat in Aruchal Pradesh, the entire school fraternity across the district plunged into deep remorse and condoled Marcel Megu’s demise.
