KOKRAJHAR, May 22: The vice-principal of Sidli-Kashikotra Higher Secondary School in Chirang district allegedly used fake Master degree certificate. This fraud came to light after the International Human Rights Council, an NGO, got details following an RTI application. The Director of Education, BTC, has assured the NGO to inquire into the educational testimony submitted by the vice-principal and appropriate action to be taken if the certificates were found to be fake. The executive president of the NGO, Indrajit Kr. Brahma said they filed RTI application seeking the Master degree certificate of Malina Dutta, vice-principal of Sidli-Kashikotra Higher Secondary School, Chirang, a year ago and they received the reply on March 15. He said Dutta furnished her MA degree certificate of Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management University (EIILMU) University, Sikkim. The executive president of International Human Right Council on Tuesday called on the Director of Education, BTC, Rabi Shangkar Borgoyary stating that Malina Dutta had recently been elevated to the post of vice-principal of the school from the post of demonstrator on the basis of fake certificates that she had submitted before the authority. The certificates of MA (Education) and M.Sc. (Chemistry) which she had submitted were not issued from the EIILM University, Sikkim as she claimed. The courses of MA (Education) and M.Sc. (Chemistry) were not in the list of the departments allotted for EIILM University, Sikkim.

Brahma said the certificates which she submitted in Sidli-Kashikotra HS School had been procured through RTI dated 15 /03/ 2018 and for the purpose of verification produced before the Registrar (IC), EIILM University/ Deputy Director, HE, Human Resource Development Department, Government of Sikkim, wherein the Registrar (IC), EIILM University/Deputy Director HRDD, Government of Sikkim declared by issuing a letter that MA (Education) and M.Sc. (Chemistry) respectively are not recognized subjects by UGC /DEC for EIILM University, Sikkim as confirmed by the Registrar (I/C), EIILMU/ Dy. Director (HE) HRDD, Ref. 52/DIR/HE/HRDD Dated 10/05/2018. Thus, it is seen that Malina Dutta had never studied in the university and had obtained degrees through unfair means. In this connection, the executive president of the NGO said that submission of fake certificate for the benefit of government service and promotion by suppressing the original facts and submitting fake certificates of M.Sc. and MA, amounted to criminal offence and necessary action had to be taken against Malina Dutta.
