Scientific talk on life and contribution of Stephen Hawking

TINSUKIA, April 13: To popularize science and to develop scientific inquisitiveness among school children, the Tinsukia branch of Assam Science Society organized a scientific talk on life and contribution of Stephen Hawking at Sripuria Jatiya Vidyalaya Tinsukia recently. Dr Rajib Bordoloi, Principal Women’s College and former Head of the Department of Physics, Tinsukia College as guest speaker elaborated how Hawking used different modes of communications, including specially devised software fitted in his wheel chair, while putting his views before the scientific community. In his lucid language Dr Bordoloi also spoke about general relativity and black hole concept citing an inspirational quoting of Hawking’s - ‘However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can succeed at’. He also called upon the students to emulate the path shown by luminaries. The programme was attended by a large number of students besides teachers. Prof Uttam Duarah of Women’s College delivered a speech on superstition and its negative impact on the society.
