Search operation called off

SHILLONG, Nov 20: The search for Elizabeth Hume, a kayaker from the United Kingdom has been officially suspended on Thursday, even as local residents continue with their bid to find out the body said to have been wedged inside the caverns of the mighty River Umngi, East Khasi Hills district. Superintend of Police (City) Vivek Syiem confirmed that the search operation has been suspended besides saying the NDRF, SDRF and the State police team have temporally withdrawn from the search operations that was assisted by the villagers in and around the area of occurrences. The British professiol Kayaker is strongly believed to have been sucked inside the underwater caves soon after she was washed away during the failed expedition.
