‘Seat sharing Autonomous District Councils for ADCs, Lok Sabha not on anvil’,says Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that there was no discussion on seat sharing for the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) and the Lok Sabha polls when the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) was constituted. “The alliance was formed looking at the interest of the people of the State. But we have not discuss on the Lok Sabha and MDC elections when the alliance was formed” Chief Minister said when asked that the regional parties wanted the NPP to give them an opportunity to contest from Shillong Parliamentary seat.

It may be mentioned that the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) comprising of the UDP and HSPDP had insisted that the regional parties should be given an opportunity to contest from Shillong Parliamentary seats, “Seat sharing is a common thing in any alliance. If NPP is given an opportunity to set up candidate from Tura then the regional parties should be given a chance to set up the common candidate for the Shillong Parliamentary seat,” UDP vice president, Allantry F Dkhar had stated.
