SEBA Engages Cyber Experts To Probe ‘Question Paper Leak’

GUWAHATI: The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has engaged cyber experts to probe the alleged reports of question paper leak during the first day of High School Leaving Certificate/Assam High Madrassa Examinations, 2019 on Thursday.

There were allegations and reports of leakage of the English question paper from the Jajari examination centre in Nagaon district on Thursday. The SEBA had termed the incident as hoax spread by miscreants to create hassles and rumor in smooth conduct of the HSLC and AHM examinations.

“We could have termed the Thursday’s incident as leakage if the question papers were circulated before the exams had started. As per our information, the question papers came out after 11 am. We have engaged cyber intelligence experts to detect the accurate timing, place and mobile number from where the reports of leakage spread,” SEBA Controller of Examination Nayanjyoti Sarma said.

Soon after information about the question paper leak police officials rushed to the Jajari examination centre and during investigation a WhatsApp message was traced. The origin of the message is being ascertained, Sarma said.

As per rules, a student appearing in the exam centre can come out one hour after the commencement of the exam, without the question paper. On the other hand, students who come out after two hours of the beginning of examination can carry the question paper with them.

Altogether 3, 52,143 candidates are appearing in the ongoing HSLC and AHM examinations. For safety and security during the examination, two CCTV cameras have been installed in the examination hall and LED bulb has also been fitted so that the examination halls get brighter. Examinations are being held at 857 centres across the State.

Chairman of SEBA Ramesh Chandra Jain said 144 CrPC has been imposed ahead of 50 metres of the examination venue to prevent untoward incident during the examination. In order to prevent any malpractices during the examination, the board has arranged strict security measures. The board is also deploying Flying Squads in the sensitive centres.
